Congratulations to the following Books for Keeps readers who are winners in our recent Behind the Bookshelf competition.
Bridget March of King’s School in Bruton, Somerset
Jayne Gould of Broke Hall Community Primary School, in Ipswich, Suffolk
Laura Taylor of City of London Academy, Southwark, London
They have each won a year’s subscription to Behind the Bookshelf with full access to the video library and the BtB lesson creator.
Behind the Bookshelf is a new website, designed for use in schools and libraries. It features hundreds of short film clips of top authors talking about aspects of the creative writing process. These can be organised in a variety of ways and streamed directly into the classroom.
Bridget March commented, “I am looking forward to checking out the author visitors and hope to instigate a new approach to creative writing, particularly with the students who struggle to engage with this through lack of confidence. We always notice a difference in student attitude and application after an author has visited in person and regaled the joys of reading and writing, but this enthusiasm is hard to maintain as our author visits are sadly too few. Having regular access to these videos will be fantastic and should enable us to keep the students inspired.”
