This picture book is a celebration of the waywardness of genius. Michael causes havoc in school in a number of classroom situations, that is when he is not contemplating sycamore spin-drifters and secretly engrossed in the mathematics of flight. Eventually, of course, Michael goes far. This is a straightforward but stimulating book, and the combination of Bradman's bold, concise and uncomplicated text with Ross' vigorous, witty artwork make it highly accessible to beginner readers who will enjoy thinking about what wonders might be evolving inside the hero's head.
