Leon and Bob
A disarmingly understated tale matched by equally understated illustrations about a small black boy, Leon, finding the confidence to replace his imaginary friend with a real one. Leon's immediate surroundings - house, street and park - have a lovely ring of truth about them. James's acute pen and ink drawings complement an accessible text for this age range. Many children will identify with the feelings in this beautiful and sensitive picture book.
