First year university student Julia meets Polish Australian Zig, when he enters into a bet to get her 'ice-maiden' attention and win £5. A relationship develops only so far, abruptly foreshortened by Julia's imminent trip to Eastern Australia to join her boyfriend and thence home to England. A keen tension and suspense is created throughout, mainly by Zig's idiosyncratic and sometimes downright mysterious behaviour. Yet he is always fascinating and unpredictable, obviously falling for the 'ice-maiden', despite what he protests in his share of the split narrative. A short, very readable love story, worth promoting.
