Upper primary introductions to the cuisines of the two countries. The France book tends to focus on the 'out of the ordinary' and gives us frogs and snails (almost inevitably), truffle hunting, the Lemon Festival in Menton and the Pig-squealing Festival somewhere in the south-west. The India book concentrates more on food connected with religious festivals (Divali, Id and Guru Nanak's birthday) as well as a Hindu wedding. Large print and plenty of attractive photographs make the books easy on the eye and each has four simple recipes to try. 32 pages with a glossary, resource list, and Food and Festivals Topic Web (the same in both books). Other titles in the series include China, Mexico, The Caribbean and West Africa.
