Khumalo desperately wants a beautiful new blanket he has seen in the market. Its weaver wants a jar of wild forest honey in exchange. So Khumalo sets out to find it with the honeybird's help but, in his excitement, he forgets to thank the honeybird and give it some honey as a reward. When there is a drought, the people say this is because the water spirit is angry but Khumalo believes it is because he forgot to thank the honeybird. Can he make amends? This is an unusual story with a simple message about the importance of 'a kind heart'. There are colourful descriptions of different African landscapes and animals augmented by expressive illustrations in colour and black and white.
