This warm story of care and friendship develops as Hare sets about building a sand bear out on the dunes but gives Sandbear just a blade of grass as an arm. Hearing cries for help, Sandbear discovers that Hare has fallen down a deep hole. To get him out, Sandbear slides down into the hole and Hare hops out - but Sandbear has reverted into a pile of sand. Can Hare recreate him? This well told story is an affirmation of firm friendship, and the painterly, summery illustrations lend credence to a developing and worthwhile relationship.
