Three short hilarious stories in one book about young Billy Bonkers who gets involved in all kinds of scrapes. This ordinary boy, in true superhero fashion, comes to the rescue of perfect strangers in extraordinary circumstances, flying through the air wearing his mum’s knickers (jet propelled by porridge) in ‘The Great Porridge Incident’. In ‘The Great Beach Rescue’, Billy comes to the aid of a teenage girl who has foolishly tried to retrieve a beach ball which has blown out to sea. Finally, in ‘The Birthday Trampoline’, Billy blasts himself headfirst into a chocolate planet situated close to the moon and has to find a way of returning to earth. Don’t try this at home, kids!

As a cameo to the main stories Billy’s Dad, going through some kind of mid-life crisis, has a preoccupation with girls in bikinis, whether in the newspaper or playing volleyball on the beach! The book is endorsed on the front cover by TV star Harry Enfield, which might give potential readers a further clue as to how ‘bonkers’ the stories are.
