Here is a selection of thirty-five poems including many from the author’s Plum and Pip titles repackaged into four sections with a final ‘Poem to Rap It Up’, an invitation to write a rap. The theme of the first section ‘Under My Hat’ is loosely, growth, the second ‘In My Garden’ features such things as the beetle moving ‘clumsy, clockwork, slow’ and the ‘heftiest ever feline flea’, the third, entitled ‘In My Pocket’ speaks for itself and the fourth ‘At My Fingertips’ contains eight action rhymes.

Accessibility is the hallmark of Mitton’s poems and this collection with Sue Heap’s lively line drawings should, one hopes, mean that it will attract readers who might not pick up his more sober looking volumes. JB
