It is Harry’s first day at school. He and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs are all excited to be going, except for Stegosaurus, who’s very nervous. On arriving at school, Harry and his Bucket get separated and Harry’s not so sure he’s going to like school or his teacher, Mrs Rance, after all. Then Harry sees another boy who’s very unhappy. This little boy is so scared he won’t say a word to anyone, not even his name. Harry decides to try to cheer him up, with the help of his dinosaurs, of course, and before long everyone is enjoying their first day as well as making brand new friends. A perfect book for reading to young children at the start of a new school year. Whybrow is a former teacher, so he is on familiar territory here. Other titles in the series include Harry and the Dinosaurs Go Wild, and Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs Say “Rahhh!” The bright and cheerful illustrations by Reynolds are great too. AK
