A gentle story about a young rabbit who saves a little girl’s birthday picnic when inclement weather threatens to ruin it. This is very much a story for little girls. Fairy wings and princess outfits are much in evidence. Lettice stumbles upon 5-year-old Jasmine’s fancy dress birthday picnic and doesn’t need a second invitation to join in the party games. As the rain starts to fall, Lettice leads them to a secret sunny glade. Lettice returns home with a goody bag to show the rest of her rabbit family. The pastel pink, green and blue shaded illustrations are enhanced texturally, giving an added glittery feel to the book. AK
