Ibby has gone to stay with her aunt and cousins, and although she likes them, she is still apprehensive. She is expecting a run-of-the-mill stay, but all that changes when she tries to find her cousin Francis, who appears to have vanished from his room. Fortunately, before her aunt finds out, she is able to locate him with the help of her other cousin Alex – Francis has only managed to cast a magic trick and make himself into a miniature... The rest of the book deals with the hilarious mishaps that the three children stumble into each time something else from the magic instruction book is tried. Told in a gentle style, this book is full of humour and detail that children will appreciate; it is suited either to the book corner in the classroom or to being read aloud.
