Rumblewick Spellwacker Mortimer B, a witch’s cat, has a very tricky problem. His witch (for the next seven years), Haggy Aggy, has cast aside witchy activities in favour of sparkly shoes and trendy bags. Even worse, after a story-time session at the library, all she wants to do is act like a beautiful princess whose only use for her spell book is as an aid in her deportment exercises; but worst of all, she wants to marry a handsome prince.

Readers can learn how RB tackles the difficult dilemma through the correspondence between the troubled tom and his Uncle Sherbet. The text of the book comprises their letters, spells, notes, legal documents and annotated diagrams – a practical demonstration of many of the various forms of written communication.
