The Story Museum will one day be a real museum, a place of inspiration and wonder, celebrating children’s literature and storytelling in the heart of Oxford, a world centre of language and learning, and home to some of the best-loved children’s writers and illustrators in the world – from Lewis Carroll to Philip Pullman.

While the organisers are working towards a real building, The Story Museum is a ‘virtual’ museum, taking story performances, exhibitions, activities and ideas to children and their adults, and they’re developing and sharing 1001 enjoyable, memorable ways to inspire and help children. Through their outreach programme they have helped thousands of children engage with and enjoy stories, both in schools and at family venues, and provided INSET day training for teachers. The Story Museum has also been working with the Arts Council to look at the engagement of children with reading and books in the South East and help them formulate a vision for children’s literature in the future.
