Mother dinosaur is worried when all her eggs but one hatch properly. That one egg turns out to contain the smallest dinosaur anyone has ever seen. He is so different from his siblings that he is lonely and only feels safe on the top of a hill. From there, he spots a sad Long Neck dinosaur, and the rest of the story hinges on these two different creatures and how they discover their own talents and save the others. It is the illustrations, though – as always with this author/illustrator – that make the book special. The colours glow and shimmer, and the round, cuddly shapes of the dinosaurs are not the least bit threatening. If you’ve never seen a dinosaur smile, you are in for a treat!
