Little Dinosaur sets off to discover a new world across the river, playing with frogs, butterflies and wild flowers along the way. Then he gets lost in a dark, scary forest. Despite being small and frightened, he reminds himself he has the heart of a dinosaur, and must be brave. Trying to retrace his steps, he loses all sense of direction. Panic sets in. Hearing sobbing nearby, he discovers the oddest little creature who is also lost. Safety in numbers!

Little Dinosaur comforts him, and they walk together until they see daylight. When a huge menacing black shape swoops above their heads, the little creature shouts, ‘Mummy!’ Little Dinosaur gets a ride on her great pterodactyl wings, giving directions back towards the river, home and family. As ever, Foreman’s illustrations glow. There is bright sunshine, trees and water, the text strolling along at a pace just right for the story-matter.
