Mick Inkpen’s endearing Wibbly Pig returns with yet more of life’s little problems to solve! What to do, when his toy special Pigley needs to be kept safe whilst Wibbly Pig investigates the contents of his party bag? Why, tie Pigley to the balloon string, of course. But away flies the balloon, Pigley grimly hanging on. The adventure is happily resolved by resourceful Wibbly Pig, the reader needing to retrace the tale immediately to see just how clever he has been. Inkpen’s consummate skills in both narrative and illustration combine to create a deceptively simple story. The minimal text is well-spaced on each spread, making us hear Wibbly’s inner voice at each fresh problem and feel his disappointment when things go wrong. This is a book for every nursery collection whether at home or at school.
