For anyone who likes myths and folk tales, this book fulfils the need admirably. Wyatt has retold a collection of tales originally narrated by the Buddha over 2,000 years ago in such a way that they are as fresh and interesting as when they would first have been told. The morals in the tales are clear and easy to understand as in every good folk or fairy tale, with Chapman’s illustrations matching the stories perfectly. The stories can be read out at home or in school – the book would also be a useful addition to KS2 classrooms, and certainly there will be children who will appreciate reading the book for pleasure. Well worth buying.
