Lively illustrations fill each double spread in this entertaining picture book and the joy of playing with a favourite toy is delightfully explored. Bathtime is perfect with yellow plastic Duck! But when he accidentally falls out of the bathroom window, ‘Did anybody see? No, they didn’t!’ Fortunately the duck falls into baby brother’s pram, and as Duck tumbles out at the park, he is snatched by the jaws of Buster the dog. ‘Did anybody see? No, they didn’t!’ goes the refrain.Love-a-Duck’s misadventures continue until he has completely lost his squeak, managing only squubbles and squoos.

Finally, Buster spots him and carries him quietly all the way home, neatly sliding him over the edge of Jane’s bubbly bath. Love-a-Duck is so happy to hear her say, ‘You’re my best toy!’ So happy that he recovers his squeak!
