Why do we not realise more often that we should rely on friends close to us rather than look further afield? Rhino has an unbearable ITCH in an unreachable place. Bird tells him he needs a little help, so Rhino sets off to find just that. Frog can’t scratch the itch, he’s too slimy. Lizard is too prickly, and Rhino daren’t ask the courtly Lion, the full-page picture telling us just why not!  Thank goodness Bird is back again. With minimal text, the bold pictures portray the heat and dust of Africa, the expansive skies paling from bright yellow at the beginning to dusky twilight, as, all day long, Rhino seeks help. The final endpaper shows a landscape bathed in red sunlight and Rhino and Bird together enjoying renewed friendship.
