This should hit the mark – a football book that is very fast and exciting to read and full of Premier League detail and thrilling drama. You have to believe that a 13-year-old soccer genius is so mature looking and thinking that he can be persuaded to pull off a scam to help save the ailing fortunes of a Premier League club. He can masquerade as a 16-year-old new discovery because nobody knows him, since he’s been out of the country travelling for seven years with his dad. He has no other relatives.

Now, add resentment from the gambling alcoholic that he is out-shining as a striker and a very high stakes bet fixing scam involving some desperate thugs and a goalie, and you have a sub-plot to up the testosterone/adrenalin levels.

This is a real page turner valuable for reviving the reading experience of any jaded sports fans. They’ll love it for the insights and info into Premier League footie alone, and, as the real hook, probably think… if only it were me.
