Morris MacMillipede
Illustrated by Satoshi Kitamura
More than anything else, Morris the millipede would like to learn how to dance - ballet, that is. This is in stark contrast to the ambitions of all the other boy insects. Initial reaction: laughter... which continues until Morris finds the kind of dance that benefits from him having 42 pairs of feet. An elderly stag beetle acts as his mentor and there is a host of other characters whose personalities match ours so well. The mix of illustrations and short chapter lengths mean that young readers will find this book accessible and fun to read.
