Mike Rosen's 'conversation' poems are rightly popular with youngsters because they are fun to hear or read. Astute at selecting themes with which kids empathise, Rosen's material is also a 'godsend' to teachers looking for a lively introduction to 'poetry' for the young. It works for them, because it's fun, so they enjoy it, and are therefore more likely to pursue an interest in writing or reading poetry. Some old favourites here (I Know Someone; Thirty Two Lengths) but lots of new material, plenty of Eddie involvement, plus the bonus of illustrations of quality from Quentin Blake, make the book even more appealing. Thoroughly recommended to youngsters, parents, teachers -- and excellent value at £1.50.
