I was disappointed with this very American story in which 'the worst' is converted by a cheerful monster, from a miserable old man, into a fun loving party thrower, it nowhere near measures up to James Stevenson's Could Be Worse. Certainly not one I would choose to read aloud to infants, though it may well appeal to slightly older individual readers.
