Two feelings-centred picture books from America: the sensitivity of the themes - sibling jealously and the advantages and disadvantages of being 'grown up' - are gently underscored though the whole design of the books with their lovely muted colour illustrations contained within brown line frames, on cream paper. Essentially these are books for private reflective reading although I can see Brunus and the New Bear also being read as an assembly story in the same way as John Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat. Both books are highly recommended.
