Not So Fast Songololo

No primary classroom should be without a copy of this fine book. Set in South Africa, it centres on Shepherd (Songololo) and his granny Gogo's shopping trip to town. Gogo is slow and Shepherd likes to do things slowly too so he is her ideal companion. Gogo finds the pace and traffic of the city somewhat frantic: 'The little green man mixes me up' she says; but Shepherd is an expert at crossing the road. The shopping trip is successful especially for Shepherd who becomes the delighted and proud owner of a pair of brand new red tackies (trailers). A simple domestic story told both in words and through the illustrations with great sensitivity.
