There were diametrically opposing reactions to this book - the children either raved about the book ecstatically or looked on in bewilderment at the others as they said they felt it was silly and how could Abigail's daddy be in the Secret Service and the Marines and the Mafia, and what was the Marines anyway?! A lot of the humour is really slanted towards the adult but more than enough children responded to Abigail's imaginative flights and her gutsy defence of her sandcastle to make for a really good humdinger of an argument between the rival camps. A must for the classroom collection!
