The Bryant family take in cousin Julia when her parents are killed in a car crash. None except Rachel notices Julia's unusual ability to enchant those around her and to destroy what lies in her path. Rachel alienates herself from both family and friends in her attempts to expose Julia as a witch and it's not until her mother's near-fatal accident that she's believed. A gripping read which builds tension steadily. For reluctant and average readers - a useful contribution to a GCSE Wider Reading Programme.
