More expensive than the usual titles we review in these pages, but worth every penny of the price. A handsome book presenting 37 short, vivid stories about the animals of Africa based on traditional folk tales. There are also fact pages about many of the animals, including maps of Africa and information about threats to the species' survival. These inserts are attractively presented and compelling and they do not in any way detract from the fascination of the stories. A wealth of beautiful illustration adds to the charm of a book which my class finds irresistible.
