A most attractively produced book with many colour plates and line-drawings but disappointing in its range. It's very traditional in approach (there's nothing here that couldn't have been anthologised 50 years ago). Along with favourites from Hardy, Yeats, Blake and Emily Dickinson go a great many undistinguished and sentimental jingles, resulting in a narrowness of focus and an over-emphasis on twee anthropomorphism.
