Reading these books will be as much of a self-indulgence for many adults as it was for me! I was curious to see whether the appeal for children has lasted, considering the undoubtedly superior competition available nowadays. It has! The books leap from everyday situations to bizarre adventures without a pause for breath, but The Royal Elephant family brazen it out without turning a hair and today's children accept it all - just as I did!
