When Johnny gets bored, his Mum sends him shopping for groceries ... and a box of ogres. They escape, of course, and it takes some quick thinking to ensure that their voracious appetites are diverted from human flesh. A marvellously quirky story with stridently vivid illustrations; my class loved the classically hideous ogres. This Gremlins-like tale would be a particularly useful stimulus for reluctant readers and writers.
