The complicated web of deceit, distrust and dislike woven by the adults revisits itself on the present generation when Mel and his sister are compelled to hole up with their parents, on the run from a bunch of hoods. From then on, life is nothing if not unsettling and littered with the inexplicable. There's a very busy pace to this tale and bits of the plot seem under-developed. However, it's a good book to recommend to reluctant male readers.
