Cover Story
The illustration on the front of BfK this month is the cover of Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass with illustrations by Sir John Tenniel. The book is published by Macmillan (0 333 29037 2) at £9.99, and we're grateful for their help in using this picture of Alice and the White Knight.

With 20 stories and extracts, this is very good value and despite the conservative nature of the selection - mostly male writers and little recent work - it's worth buying. It makes an excellent addition to the teacher's collection with some good things to read from. The extract from The Wizard of Earthsea, where Ged fights the dragons, reminded me how good that book was and immediately became a way of introducing the book to someone who was undecided about taking on the full version. I found a lot of old favourites plus some that were new to me. The drawings are the one sign of cost saving.
