A lovely book of animal poems for young children to read for themselves because the poems are all very short, richly rhythmic and printed boldly and clearly beside some beautifully coloured illustrations. The range of poets is wide, from Trad. Anon. to modern writers by way of Beatrix Potter. One complaint: the author is named only on the contents page and not with the poem itself which seems a pity. Otherwise, an excellent addition to an infant book collection.
