A fun collection of poems upon a single theme put together in slim, lovely to handle and brightly-coloured volumes. These are four in a series of nine - other titles include Sports, Fox, Horse, Dragon and Mouse.

Aimed at the beginner listener, the fledgling reader and the any-age poem lover, they are pure, exuberant delight. They avoid the often found annoyance of material being included where the link is tenuous. Each collection clearly focuses on the topic title showing many aspects of its subject. The illustrations are colourful and suitable for the particular title - feather-by-feather detail for the cuckoo in Egg, and sloshy, stormy greens for 'The Lighthouse' in Sea.

The thoughtfully provided stiff covers make face-on display so easy. These books make a brilliant addition to any library or classroom, although the appealing contents will ensure they don't stay beautifully displayed for long!
