A nicely paced, short adventure story which mixes the precise detail of its Bath location and the historical facts of the Faberg$e eggs. Nicola and Tim are the only ones available to clear out their great-aunt's flat. They have begun to sort what they want to keep when an apparent friend of their great-aunt turns up and then disappears with the beautifully crafted, jewelled egg with its wonderful mechanical elephant inside. The chase and regaining of the egg are exciting without ever being drawn out, which will make this an easy and worthwhile read for many children.
