This is the first of a series about Caroline and her brother JP which promises to enchant young readers. Although the plot is predictable, the author has created a range of well-drawn characters and amusing situations. When Caroline convinces herself that a man living above her family in New York apartments is plotting murder, she enlists JP and a would-be jounalist friend to foil him in a story which has all the warmth, humour and charm expected from Lois Lowry.
