This book is one from the 'Teenage Memoirs' series published by Walker (see the article, All Their Yesterdays, in this issue) and Adèle, of course, is the subject of our Authorgraph - see centre-spread. Belinda Beats the Band
Illustrated by Val Biro
Two books about an anthropomorphised VW Beetle car, called Belinda, aimed at an older age group than Awdry's 'Thomas' books. These stories are densely and interestingly plotted involving thieves and criminals, kidnapping and car chases, in an attractively old-fashioned, innocent style. It's nice to have a female main character and Belinda shows commendable resourcefulness and courage. Good fun for those with confidence in their reading abilities.
