Very old teachers, like me, will remember a book entitled The Book of a Thousand Poems, which provided every infant teacher with poems about fairies, flowers, babies and the weather. All were harmless, all were rhymed, all were sweet and light, some were also worth thinking about. This is the successor to that book, without the thought. The poems (perhaps verses, rather) are pleasant, suitable for very young children and about ordinary events like buses and red. If I can hop on one leg, I can jump on two, I can hop on the other one, Can you do it too? is your idea of poetry for young children, you'll love this book...
