These are beautifully produced paperbacks - they even smell good! Vincent James has provided us with a delightful new hero who muddles his way through life coping as best he can. Philbert Frog works so well as a character because, although we can feel slightly smug and superior as we follow his antics, the difficulties he faces as he's tormented by his cousin hit close to home and the solutions to these predicaments are very satisfying. The children found the books very appealing and I reckon Philbert will become a firm favourite if the television series lives up to the books.
