Books written specially to put a message across all too often fail as good stories. Here however, Michele Elliott, director of Kidscape, manages to make her account of Gill, Charlie and Marilyn's brushes with a gang of bullies during their first year of secondary school highly readable. The fears and emotions of the victims and the picture of school life are authentically portrayed and the story has pace and suspense as well as offering sound advice.
