Roger McGough's writing begs to be read aloud. This adventure has all the essential components-humour, panic, absurdity, pathos, bright lights and stormy depths. The superb illustrations match the mood and changes of pace perfectly. But it's the sheer rollicking rhythm of the language which makes the lurking thespian in every teacher turn to drama and leaves the children clamouring for you to 'do it again, please!'
