This superb anthology is not to be missed. It's intelligently organised, with surprising juxtapositions and a refreshing mix of traditional and contemporary. Its 'green' theme is explained by Anne Harvey in her introduction through reference to the 'Green Man' of folklore - a spirit of growth and regeneration. Poets through the centuries, from Chaucer to Charles Causley, are included here, using greenness as an emblem of optimism and fertility. This collection will be an invaluable classroom resource, and an enjoyable and inspiring read for children or adults.
