That the author is amused by much he sees in the world around is reflected in many of the poems in this book; there's the 'yodelling scarecrow for farmers' found in 'The Vault of Unwanted Inventions' for instance. Though written in a similar apparently light-hearted style, some of the poems are of a more serious, thought-provoking kind, for example 'Stevie Scared' who's '... so scared and people knowing. / Spends his whole time kicking, fighting. / ... Bashing little kids about / (Just in case they find him out).' Highly recommended for private and public reading.
