Readers need to be sophisticated enough to understand that the Little Dragon is himself in a book in a library and to know a little about dragon stories as a genre in order to make the most of this short novel. For this reason, although the print is large, I recommend a slightly older age-group than might initially appear suitable. It would also help if readers know the first story in the series. Young Juniors will enjoy finding out who stole the princess's treasure on the way to the happy ending.
