The illustration on our cover this month is by Ted Dewan from Inside Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Creatures. This book was written by Steve Parker and published by Dorling Kindersley, to whom we are grateful for their help in using this illustration.

A successful combination of text and illustration makes this an interesting and demanding story. Slobcat is viewed from two perspectives, that of his young owner and that of his other life. Apparently too lazy to do anything much Slobcat is described affectionately in the text as hopeless at any of the things cats are supposed to do. In fact, as we see in the pictures, he's actually very active and successful. As the story says, 'people say that all cats have a secret life we don't know about ... 'Well, this book points that up admirably.
