Another 'Read Alone Book' from Hazel Townson that really works. Illustrations are good, support the text and add to it. (A shame, though, about the quality of the paper which means that succeeding pages spoil the image and can sometimes be a little distracting for the reader.) The text has all the right ingredients - a gripping story with Bella the Bully getting her comeuppance, with magic, with hilarious (sometimes cringemaking) dialogue, but such pace and verve that even a tentative reader will be compelled to keep going to the very satisfying end.
