Estelle's old gold hat looked like a potty turned upside down yet she had to wear it every Sunday. Grandma's story about how she managed to rid herself of her hated headgear and where it ended up is set in 1920s colonial South Africa. Terry Milne's pencil and watercolour illustrations give us a fascinating glimpse into the family life of white settlers and the fashions and architeture of the period.
