A shipful of emigrants sailed to Australia from Scotland 100 years ago. Present-day children piece together what happened on the voyage from fragments of diaries and other information and, in doing that, begin to recreate the series of disasters and also relive them. It's an exciting read blending spooky nastiness with a well-recreated historical voyage and teenage romance. The twists of plot alone will hook many readers.
